Recovery is open to those who are willing to take a series of steps, learn some skills, and become a part of a recovery community.

First things first - recovery involves breaking the hold of the addictive substance; for many this means detoxification with medical help. As the physical hold of the addictive substance is broken, the next steps involve the restoration of hope and health, learning the skills of self care and living without a drink or a drug, and becoming part of a community of recovery.
